It’s frighteningly easy. Answer the phone.
The most important factor here is how often the phone gets answered. If you have a higher answering rate, Google continues to show your ads more often.
So, the more you answer, the more calls you will get.
Are you on the job site? That’s fine.
Hire a VA to answer the phones and at the very least take the message and tell them you’ll call them back.
I know it’s near impossible to answer all calls all the time, especially when you are on another line with someone else. So we do the best we can.
There are no other “optimisations” to be done here for your Local Services Account, complete the profile, set a generous budget, upload photos and then answer the phone when it rings.

This client has a bad a week answering the phone, and that’s fine. It happens.
They had 6 missed calls, 5 answered. Not a great hit rate.
When they got things back on track, the volume started to kick off.
- first 30 days: 5 leads.
- next 30 days: 33 leads.

How does the local services Ads system work?
The system also marks the leads, just want to make sure you know what it means. You’ll see them marked as Charged, or Not Charged, or Credited.
- Charged – when you answer the phone and it’s a real lead.
- Not Charged – when you dont answer, or it goes to VM. likely when you are on the other line with another client.
- Credited leads – when it’s a lead from an existing customer, or for a wrong number.
